Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps taken by Storage Purley to prevent modern slavery, forced labour, and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. Storage Purley recognises its responsibility to conduct business ethically, transparently, and with respect for the human rights of all individuals affected by our activities.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Purley has a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to acting with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships. We expect the same high standards from all suppliers, contractors, and business partners who provide goods or services to us or act on our behalf.
Modern slavery is a crime and a grave violation of fundamental human rights. It includes slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, bonded labour, child labour that interferes with a child’s education or development, and human trafficking. Storage Purley does not accept any form of exploitation or abuse and will take appropriate action wherever such practices are identified or suspected.
Scope of this Statement
This statement applies to Storage Purley, its employees, and individuals working on our behalf, as well as to our supply chains that support the provision of storage, maintenance, facilities management, and related services. It covers both direct suppliers and, where practical, indirect suppliers further down our supply chain.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We seek to build long-term, transparent relationships with suppliers who share our values. As part of our supplier onboarding and ongoing management, we expect suppliers to confirm that they comply with all applicable laws relating to labour, employment, and human rights and that they actively work to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking.
Due diligence activities may include requesting information on labour practices, recruitment processes, use of agency or migrant workers, and any previous incidents of non-compliance. Where higher risk is identified, we may require additional assurances, supporting documentation, or corrective action plans as a condition of continuing the business relationship.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
Storage Purley will undertake proportionate supplier audits and monitoring to assess compliance with our zero-tolerance expectations. These audits may be scheduled or unannounced and can include site visits, interviews with management and workers, and review of employment records, policies, and procedures.
If a supplier is found to be in breach of our standards, we will work with them to address and remediate the issues within clear and reasonable timeframes. Where a supplier is unwilling or unable to improve, Storage Purley reserves the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Escalation
We are committed to providing safe and accessible channels for raising concerns about modern slavery or unethical practices within our operations or supply chains. Employees, contractors, and suppliers are encouraged to report any suspicions of exploitation, unsafe working conditions, or breaches of our policy through internal reporting routes or directly to senior management.
All reports will be taken seriously and treated sensitively. Storage Purley will investigate concerns promptly, maintain confidentiality as far as practicable, and protect individuals who raise concerns in good faith from retaliation or adverse treatment. Where appropriate, concerns may be escalated to relevant authorities or external experts.
Training and Awareness
Storage Purley is committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks among employees whose roles involve procurement, supplier management, or facilities operations. Training and guidance will cover how to recognise warning signs of exploitation, how to respond to concerns, and the importance of adhering to our zero-tolerance policy.
We encourage a culture where ethical behaviour is valued and where employees understand their responsibility to help prevent modern slavery in any part of our operations.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process requiring continual vigilance and improvement. Storage Purley will review this Modern Slavery Statement at least annually, or more frequently if required by changes in legislation, business operations, or identified risks.
Each review will consider the effectiveness of our actions, the outcomes of supplier audits, any reported concerns, and emerging good practice. Where necessary, we will update our procedures, strengthen our controls, or enhance training to ensure that we continue to mitigate the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Storage Purley, who are responsible for its implementation and for ensuring that the commitments described are integrated into our day-to-day business practices.
